IELTS Writing Task 1 – Dạng Bản Đồ (Map)

Cấu trúc của bài thi IELTS Writing Task 1 dạng bản đồ như sau:

GHI CHÚ: Nếu có nhiều điểm thay đổi quan trọng trong xu hướng, dùng những cách diễn đạt sau để nối các ý lại với nhau:

One notable development is … Another striking change is … A final interesting development is … A further change is …

Ví dụ:

The maps below show changes in the Borrowmeade area in recent times. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The two maps illustrate the main developments which have taken place in the Borrowmeade area between 1990 and today.

In general, it seems that Borrowmeade has been modernised, with improved transport, shopping, entertainment, accommodation, communication and sports facilities. There also appears to have been significant population growth in the area as Borrowmeade is now a town rather than a village.’

One significant change is that Fickledore Forest has been cleared and replaced by a new climbing centre. Furthermore, the area to the north of the town centre, which was a picnic and play area in 1990, has been developed into a holiday park.

Another interesting change is that the transport links have been upgraded. In 1990, Borrowmeade had a bus stop. Today, it has a bus and rail service. A further transport development is that Village Road has been turned into a motorway. To the south of the motorway, the Borrowmeade Ski Centre has been redeveloped into a large winter sports facility.

Notably, a phone tower has been erected to the south-east of the town to ‘ provide a better communication infrastructure. There has also been redevelopment to the west of the town centre, where Prichard’s Farmhouse has been knocked down and replaced by a modern cinema. Finally, the cornershop to the north-east of the town centre has been transformed into a department store.

Đoạn I, chú ý cách tác giả paraphrase lại chủ đề, thay vi dùng động từ “show”, tác giả dùng “illustrates”. Tương tự, cách dùng từ uyển chuyển khi thay “changes” thành “developments”. Paraphrase trong IELTS Writing rất quan trọng để đạt được mức điểm tốt.

Đoạn 2, nêu nhận xét về xu hướng chung dùng những cụm từ liên kết phù hợp ví dụ: in general, as a general trend,…

Đoạn 3 đến 5, Nhiều thay đổi ở Borrowmeade được thể hiện nhưng hãy nêu những đặc điểm thay đổi quan trọng nhất. Chú ý cách tác giả bài viết liên kết các điểm lại với nhau dùng các cụm từ hoặc liên từ.
