Bạn đưa câu hỏi đuôi vào trong câu để biến câu đó thành câu hỏi. Với câu khẳng định, bạn thường sử dụng câu hỏi đuôi phủ định theo hình thức kết thúc là –n’t và mong đợi câu trả lời “yes”.

VD: You’re from France, aren’t you? 

Với câu phủ định, bạn luôn sử dụng câu hỏi đuôi hình thức khẳng định và mong đợi câu trả lời “no”

VD: He’s not coming with us, is he? 

Câu hỏi đuôi bao gồm một động từ và một đại từ

Động từ có thể là một trợ từ, động từ khiếm khuyết hoặc một dạng của động từ “be”.

VD: 

You’ve been to London, haven’t you? 

She can’t sleep, can she? 

We’re going to the circus, aren’t we? 

You speak French, don’t you?
