Liên từ dùng để liên kết các câu, mệnh đề,.. lại với nhau.
Liên từ như and và but được dùng để nối các phần của câu.
AND – nối 2 hoặc nhiều câu đơn
VD: Jane can dive. Mike can dive. Jane AND Mike can dive.
- Giúp tránh lặp chủ ngữ trong 1 câu
VD: Loius fixed the engine. She changed the tyres. Louise fixed the engines and changed the tyres.
BUT – chỉ sự tương phản
VD: Jane can dive but Mike can’t
EXERCISE 1
Thêm vào những câu dưới đây 'and' hoặc 'but'.
